This Tuesday (20th) I found myself standing in front of parliament. Before us a small host of people, mainly men and families, were holding pickets and singing worship. To the left of me is a small sea of pink and a chant coming from many voices. Here stand the two sides raising their voices on the most current issue - abortion.
Recently the government has had some bills to consider and vote on and we have been following the progress of these closely and prayerfully. The two major issues deal with animal-human embryonic stem cells and saviour siblings, and the second issue is the vote to keep the abortion upper limit and the needs for consideration of a father in IVF treatment. Both of these speak right to our very foundations - to life itself and who we are. Increasingly we take our focus off our creator God and give in to rationalism, logical reasoning and humanistic values that allow for so many unjustices and unfortunately we are seeing this reflected more and more in our everyday and the consequences that this way of life brings not only for us, but for future generations.
Though this time saddened the heart we continue to look to stand and pray trusting and declaring that God has good plans for this government, this nation and His people.
